History, serene and peaceful places, oases of inspiration – one merges into the other here in Weimar when you stroll through the city center.
The impressions gained on a self-chosen path are sometimes the most lasting. The narrow streets, the many historic fountains, remnants of the old city wall with a tower. They all tell stories and enable us to imagine what attracted the many writers, artists and thinkers to come and stay here long before the time of Goethe.

The labyrinthine nature of Weimar with its sometimes unsuspecting linkages to the parks and squares enables delightful perspectives.
Discover the fountains “Donndorfbrunnen” and “Gänsemännchenbrunnen”, roam the “Brauhausgasse” and the “Seifengasse”, thereby noticing the Eckermannhaus (home of Eckermann, Goethe’s secretary) or the baroque pavilion in the “Oppelschen Garten”. Visit the Goethe Pavilion, located at the home of Charlotte von Stein, the Palais Schardt.
Roam the beautiful parkland of the historic cemetery - one of the most visited cemeteries in Germany -, directly adjacent to the HOTEL FÜRSTENHOF AM BAUHAUS WEIMAR, and admire the significant tombs and other historic graves and memorials dating from various eras.

On any walk through Weimar it is almost impossible not to come across one of the many catering establishments. Whether hidden or openly spread around a pedestrian precinct, the different cafés and restaurants of Weimar offer ideal places to have a rest, eat and drink.
